Defending champions Flamengo are second in Copa Libertadores Group A and host leaders Racing Club. The Brazilian club trail the leaders by five points with two games remaining. They are only a point above third placed Nublense with bottom-of-the-group Aucas a further point behind them. Their final two group games are both on home soil with Aucas being faced in the final fixture. The Urubu are fifth in Brazil's Serie A and are currently on an unbeaten run of eight games. Three of their last four home games have ended in victory with just one goal conceded. In this Copa Libertadores group, Rubro-Negro will be glad that they have no more away matches to play. Only two points were earned from three matches and that includes losing a lead in a 1-1 draw at Racing Club. Home form is strong though and should see the defending champions make it into the knockout stages. 

The group leaders have already clinched a top two place but will win the group if avoiding defeat here. While their Copa Libertadores group is going well they are struggling in their domestic league. Racing are 17th in the Argentinian Liga Professional and 14 points behind the Copa Libertadores qualifying positions. They have won three of their four group games, all the wins coming against the bottom two teams. Racing come into this match with no defeats in their last three matches but just one win in the last six on the road.
