Flamengo and Cruzeiro will both be looking to close the gap on the league leaders when they face off for this Brasileiro Serie A clash. The two teams remain deadlocked on points although it is Cruzeiro’s slightly superior goal differential which has them in fifth-place while Flamengo sit in sixth-place. They both trail leaders Botafogo by six points and can potentially move up to third-place with a victory. Flamengo have recovered from a slow start and have now won their last three Brasileiro Serie A matches on the trot. The last league outing for Mengão was a 1-0 home win over Corinthians.
