by Joseph King | in Conference League Predictions
Fiorentina and West Ham United meet in Prague on Wednesday 7th June to decide the winner of the second ever UEFA Conference League. Fiorentina advanced to this stage of the competition after getting by FC Basel with an aggregate score of 4-3 in the semi-final. This will be the Italian side's fifth cup final in their history and first in 33 years. The Hammers, meanwhile, triumphed over AZ Alkmaar 3-1 in their semi-final clash to reach their third European final in club history. The winner of this competition will also earn a spot in next season's Europa League and go straight into the group stages. Fiorentina - West Ham: Form Analysis
Fiorentina have a second shot at winning silverware this season following their Coppa Italia final defeat to Inter two weeks ago. They would ultimately go on to finish eighth in the Serie A, meaning that they missed out on Conference League qualification for next season by six points. The Florence-based club was able to end the domestic campaign on a relatively positive note after winning their last two Serie A matches. Their most recent was a 3-1 away win over Sassuolo thanks to two goals in the final 11 minutes of play. The victories mean that Fiorentina have now won four of their last six with only one loss during that stretch. The Serie A club also comes into this European final in a good run of form as the visiting side. Fiorentina have managed two wins and a draw in their last three away games, Their away form in the Conference League has been exceptional with goals galore being scored.
It's been a disappointing Premier League season for the Irons who finished in 14th-place. Their midweek European obligations clearly took a toll on the team who were able to secure seventh in the 2021/22 season. Their form in the Conference League has been far better than that seen in the Premier League. It's taken them 14 games to reach this final and not one of those matches has been lost. Every game has been won bar a 1-1 away draw at Gent in the quarter finals. The club last won a European trophy in 1965 and this is their first final in any competition in 17 years. West Ham were involved in a relegation battle for much of the league season but were eventually able to pull away in the final weeks. They ended the campaign with a 2-1 away loss to Leicester City, ending a two match winning streak.

Fiorentina & West Ham Squad Analysis
There will be high expectations of 25-year-old striker Arthur Cabral in the Conference League final. The Fiorentina number nine is the leading scorer in the competition, racking up seven goals in 13 appearances. The Italians have a number of goal-scoring threats in addition to their Brazilian centre-forward. Luka Jovic has six goals to his name, wide-forward Nico Gonzalez has struck for five and midfielder Antonin Barak has also netted five in this competition alone. West Ham will also have to find a way to limit the delivery of left-back and captain Cristiano Biraghi. The 30-year-old is leading the Conference League with six assists in 13 appearances for an average of 0.46 per game. Manager Vincenzo Italiano likely had his heart in his throat in the team's final Serie A fixture when he saw key players Gonzalez and Castrovilli both suffer potential injuries. Italiano would receive good news post-match as both players look to be fit for Wednesday's final. Reserve goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu is the only absentee for Fiorentina.
West Ham have the rest advantage coming into this final as the Premier League ended a week earlier than the Serie A. The team should be well-rested ahead of this match and manager David Moyes has an almost fully healthy squad to choose from. The only absence is striker Gianluca Scamacca who is on the long-term injury list. Declan Rice will lead out the Irons in what is widely considered to be his final game at the club. The danger man for Fiorentina to focus on is striker Michail Antonio, who has netted six goals in only eight Conference League appearances. Expect winger Jarrod Bowen to have an impact on the game as well. The 26-year-old Englishman has four goals and has chipped in two assists in 10 appearances so far in this tournament.
