Last season’s Conference League finalists Fiorentina welcome Maccabi Haifa to the Artemio Franchi Stadium for their last 16 return leg. Fiorentina are on course for a quarterfinal ticket as they hold a 4-3 advantage heading to the return leg. The game had drama in plenty as a 95th-minute goal from Antonin Barak secured victory for Viola. Fiorentina twice came from behind to snatch victory un the first leg. Vincenzo Italiano’s men however need to stop leaking goals as seen in their 2-2 draw against AS Roma over the weekend. Just like in their European match, the Roma game was eventful with the Giallorossi twice coming from behind. Roles were reversed with Roma netting a 95th-minute goal to claim the point. Fiorentina would have however secured victory if Cristiano Biraghi had converted his penalty. In the Conference League, the hosts look to go one better after finishing as runners-up last season.

Maccabi Haifa endured one of their worst weeks after losing the first leg to Fiorentina and also losing the Israeli league title. A 2-1 away loss to Maccabi Bnei Raina saw Maccabi Tel Aviv clinch the title with a game to spare. This brought an end to their hat-trick of titles as Maccabi Tel Aviv reclaimed the league title they won back in 2020. More worrying for Maccabi Haifa is their struggles to hold onto leads. In their laat game, Maccabi Bnei Raina also came from behind to shock them. A penalty from Anan Khalaili opened the scoring for Haifa before goals from Shlomi Azulay and Qays Ghanem secured victory for Bnei Raina. Goals have been in abundance in Haifa’s recent games though, with the last two producing over 2.5 goals. Coming into this game, the Isarelis will not have Manuel Luis Show, who was sent off in the first leg meeting.
