Two clubs fighting near the bottom of Serie A will duke it out on Monday night when Fiorentina welcome Genoa to the Stadio Artemio Franchi. The home side, who finished 10th last season, are 17th in the table after picking up eight points from their opening nine matches. Having escaped the drop by the skin of their teeth last time out, Genoa are back near the bottom again with five points from nine games leaving them 19th. The visitors have not won a Serie A game since the opening day, a run of eight games without a victory. Fiorentina, meanwhile, are four games without a win in Serie A. Leaky defences are a natural part of life at the bottom of the table. Still, the backlines of both teams could have pressure eased on them if their respective attacks were more efficient. Each side has ten goals in nine games with Fiorentina currently on a run of four games without finding the back of the net. Franck Ribery, now 36, has been struggling with injuries in this campaign and Fiorentina don't have many other players of star quality after allowing Federico Chiesa to leave for Juventus in the summer. 

Fiorentina are decent at home, only losing two of the last eight league games on their turf. Genoa also have a surprisingly competent record on the road, only losing four of their last 13 away games in Serie A. We expect this to be a close match with few goals, if any, being scored. Four of the previous six games between these teams ended nil-nil. We suggest backing under 2.5 goals.
