Fiorentina will be at home against Bologna for the two teams’ Coppa Italia quarter final tie on Tuesday. The winner here will advance to the semifinals where a showdown with either Atalanta or AC Milan will await. Fiorentina defeated Parma on penalties to advance to this round after their round of 16 tie had ended 2-2 after 90 minutes. They are now through to the last eight for the ninth time in the last 11 seasons. Last season, Vincenzo Italiano’s men lost in the final to Inter. The Viola are coming into this match off the back of a 1-0 defeat to Sassuolo in the league. Coming into the game, Fiorentina had gone eight straight matches without defeat and had won six times. Tuesday’s hosts won 2-1 in the first meeting of the season with Bologna at home.

Bologna have seen a dip in form in recent outings. Thiago Motta’s charges haven’t won in two games. After a shock 3-0 defeat by Udinese in the league, the Greyhounds were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Genoa. Before this dip, Bologna had gone six matches without defeat with five of those games ending in victory. The visitors have won two of the last three meetings with Fiorentina and will arrive here fancying their chances of progressing. Bologna defeated defending champions Inter 2-1 in the last round. The win allowed them to advance to this round for the first time since the 2012/13 season.
