Kazakhstan will play host to Finland in a crucial match in Group H of the UEFA European Championship Qualifiers on Tuesday evening. The hosts are third in the group standings, while the visitors are fourth. Both sides have identical records after seven games, though the hosts are ahead by a goal difference of just two. Finland lost their last match 3-0 against Slovenia last weekend. That followed a 1-0 loss to Denmark last month. As such, they are on 12 points with three matches to go. Slovenia lead the group with 16 points, while Denmark are right on their heels with the same points tally but behind on goal difference. Finland arguably have the better fixtures to come. They face Northern Ireland and San Marino in their final two group-stage matches. The hosts will need to win all of their remaining matches and hope that one of the top two loses at least one of their last three games in order to sneak into the qualification spots. Finland won the previous meeting against this opponent 1-0 and are the clear favourites in this one. 

Meanwhile, with an identical record to their opponents, the requirements for Kazakhstan to qualify are exactly the same as the Finns. The key difference is that the visitors are assured of a playoff spot, having topped their group at the Nations League. Still, they will want to try and secure qualification for the Euros in this competition, though a loss here would likely make it impossible to do so. Kazakhstan were on the wrong side of a 3-1 scoreline against Denmark over the weekend. However, that was the only away loss they have suffered in this competition so far. In addition, the Kazakhs have only failed to score once in this competition, which was that 1-0 loss against this opponent last month. The visitors will play San Marino next month, but their major challenge will be against Slovenia in their final match of qualifying. They have to win the next two first, though, or the final group stage match will likely be a dead rubber match for them.
