A clash of the Eredivise heavyweights is in store for us this weekend when Feyenoord play host to PSV on Sunday afternoon. The defending champions are currently in second place in the league standings, while the visitors are making it look easy at the top of the log. Feyenoord have done very little wrong domestically this season, yet they find themselves seven points behind their opponents after the first 13 games. The Pride of South have recorded ten wins, two draws, and just one loss this season, leaving them three points above third-placed AZ Alkmaar. The visitors lost to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League in midweek, but they are carrying a three-match league winning streak into this one. The last Eredivisie loss they conceded this term was away to Twente in October. Feyenoord are unbeaten at home this season and have won their last five at Stadion Feijenoord while keeping clean sheets in their last two. It may still be early days, but this could be a crucial encounter in the title race, and the hosts will be well aware of it.

Meanwhile, it is difficult to describe just how good PSV have been so far this season. The Peasants still have a 100% win record this term with 13 wins in 13 league games and have looked unstoppable up to this point. They are gobbling up records left, right, and centre, too. Perhaps the most impressive of those is that they are the first side in the history of the Eredivisie to score three or more goals in 12 consecutive matches. They set that record with their 3-0 win over Twente last weekend, which took them to a whopping 48 goals scored already this term, while at the other end, they have only let in a mere five. However, they now face their most difficult opponent to date, and if they can pull off another big win, it would certainly put them firmly in the driver's seat to reclaim the Eredivisie crown. Still, this is far from a foregone conclusion, and PSV will have to defy the odds here as they are the underdogs, according to the bookmakers.
