Feyenoord host Emmen at the De Kuip for the fourth round of the Dutch Eredivisie. The hosts have started the league in great fashion, and their two wins and a draw have placed them in second place behind arch-rivals Ajax. The finalists of last year’s Conference League claimed an important away victory against Waalwijk last time out, beating them 1-0. It was their second clean sheet in a row and third in their last five Eredivisie games. Now Feyenoord return to the De Kuip, where they have reasons to be optimistic of a positive result. That is because they have just lost once there in their last twelve competitive games. The home side’s games tend to be relatively open, with nine of their last twelve at the De Kuip featuring more than two goals. 

After being resoundingly beaten by PSV in the opening round of the campaign, Emmen have begun to find their bearings, drawing with Waalwijk and beating Utrecht 3-2 in their most recent game. The Eredivisie newcomers have thus made a strong start thus far, and they will go to the De Kuip in a positive mindset to try and get something from this game. While they have lost just twice in their last nine competitive games, that was in the Eerste Divise with arguably a much lower quality of opposition and if one adds the fact that the visitors have not beaten Feyenoord in any of their past four away meetings, this game makes for a tough reading.
