Fenerbahce welcomes Umraniyespor to the Ülker Stadyumu for this opening round match in the Turkish Super League. Last season’s runner up will be looking to go one better this season as they play their first round match at home. Fenerbahce have had a very busy pre-season with a mixed bag of results. They played six friendly matches, winning five and drawing one. They were then involved in the Champions League qualifying competition where they were knocked out by Dynamo Kiev over two legs. Fenerbahce dropped to the Europa League qualifiers where they won 3-0 in their first leg match against Czech side Slovacko. The home side has a major advantage over their opponents as they have played plenty of competitive football. Fenerbahce have only lost once in their last 22 matches across all competitions with that defeat being an extra time loss to Dynamo Kiev.

Umraniyespor will be playing in Turkish top flight football for the first time in their history as they secured promotion thanks to their second place finish in the Turkey First division. They had a productive pre-season winning four of their five friendly matches. Umraniyespor will be facing a baptism of fire as they will be playing against one of the giants in Turkish football. They will however not be overawed by the occasion as they twice beat Fenerbache albeit in a Cup tie back in 2019. Umraniyespor have only lost twice in their last 13 matches across all competitions with eight wins and three draws.
