Fenerbahce will hope to close the gap on league leaders Galatasaray when they host Trabzonspor in the Turkish Super Lig. Placed second, Fenerbahce are tied on points with Besiktas at 68 and Trabzonspor are a distant eighth, 20 points back. Coming into this game, Fenerbahce are unbeaten in eight, but they’ve failed to win the last two. In their last game, they drew 1-1 with Giresunspor, dropping vital points in the title race. The last time Fenerbahce won the league title was in 2013/14 and they have come a long way this season. In the last 14 league matches they have suffered one loss but collected 12 wins in 17 matches. The hosts’ returns in attack are worth mentioning as well, being the highest scorers in the league. They’ve scored two or more in four of their last five league matches and nine of 10 have had over 2.5 goals. Enner Valencia has been superb for them, with 27 goals in 28 league matches.

Trabzonspor finished eight points clear of Fenerbahce last season as they won the league but things have been tough this time. They are 20 points behind Fener and on a poor run coming into this game, as they’ve been a majority of the season. Trabzonspor won their last game, beating Ankaragucu 2-0, but that was their first in seven matches. Six of their last 10 matches have ended in losses, and they won just three. In all their losses, they conceded two or more goals, and they have just two clean sheets in the last 10 games. Their away run is even worse, with four straight losses, and conceding two or more in each. However, they’ve only failed to score once in their last five away matches, four ending in over 2.5 goals.
