Fenerbahce Istanbul vs Gaziantep FK Prediction & Betting Tips - Super Lig

Fenerbahce will welcome Gaziantep on Sunday in Match Day 1 of the 2023/24 Turkish Super Lig season. This will be Gaziantep’s first competitive match of the campaign while Fenerbahce have already been active in Europe. Fenerbahce started their season three weeks ago as they were involved in Europa Conference League qualifying from the second round. They are now on the verge of making it through to the final round of qualifiers. Ismail Kartal’s charges defeated Maribor 3-1 in midweek at home in the first leg of their third-round qualifier. This was their fourth win on the trot, a run that started with the final match of pre-season. With the return match coming up next week, Fener will want to keep this run to build up momentum. The Yellow Canaries have won all four matches that they have been at home against Gaziantep. They have also won the last two encounters excluding walkovers.

Gaziantep are set to play their first league match or first competitive match for that matter in seven months. The Southeastern Anatolia side were forced to withdraw from last season’s campaign midway through. This was in the wake of the devastating earthquake that rocked parts of Turkey and neighbouring Syria in February. Together with Hatayspor, Gaziantep’s remaining 15 matches across all competitions were recorded as walkovers. Erdal Gunes’ charges played their first match at the beginning of pre-season. They played five friendly matches and though they won none they made it difficult for their opponents. GFK drew their first four build-up fixtures before losing 4-2 to Kasimpasa on the final day of pre-season. Having won two of the last five matches with Fener, Gaziantep will know that a win is possible here.
