Title chasing Fenerbahce will try and keep Super Lig table toppers Besiktas within touching distance when they host relegation threatened Erzurumspor. Fenerbahce are second in the league standings with 73 points, eight behind Besiktas, while Erzurumspor are third from bottom with 37 points. With Besiktas getting stronger as season end approaches, it doesn’t seem Fenerbahce will be able to topple them, but Enol Corlu’s side will keep pushing also knowing third placed Galatasaray are just a point below. A place in the Champions League qualifiers will be a welcome consolation too, if Fenerbahce cannot stage a late coup to win the title. They lost crucial ground in the 0-0 draw with Alanyaspor, which was their seventh unbeaten outing in the Super Lig. They’ve won four of the seven and the draw with Alanyaspor marked the only time in 11 matches that they failed to score. After going through a four-game winless run at home in the league, Fenerbahce are on three straight home wins and having won the last two meetings with Erzurumspor, they’ll be eyeing three points here.

Erzurumspor have never won a fixture against Fenerbahce. After drawing in their first ever game, they lost the last two, failing to score in the process, and in their position, they will be the underdogs going to this game. While Erzurumspor are just a point below safety, they are disadvantaged in the race for survival, having played a game more, and a loss here will be a serious blow to their hopes for survival. They had gone on a fine streak of three straight wins and seemed headed for the safe zone but a 2-1 loss to Istanbul Basaksehir in their last game put a dent to their rise. Erzurumspor have three wins in 13 league matches with only two clean sheets in the process while they have two straight wins away from home and are unbeaten in the last three. They’ve conceded two or more goals in five of their last six away league matches.
