Sporting Lisbon will look to continue their sublime Primeira Liga form when they are on the road to face Vizela on Thursday evening. These sides are at opposite ends of the table, with the hosts currently second bottom while the visitors lead the league standings at the halfway point of the season. Vizela have fallen a long way from the mid-table finish they managed last season. They are currently on just 13 points after the first half of the campaign, two points above Chaves and three points from safety. Meanwhile, Sporting come into this match in great shape. They cruised to a 3-0 win over Chaves last week, which followed a 4-0 triumph over Tondela in the Taca de Portugal. Those results extended Sporting’s win streak to seven matches on the bounce, dating back to December 9 when they were beaten by Vitoria Guimaraes. The Lions have been rampant this term and are the league’s top scorers with 40 goals to date. They have also scored two or more in each of their last nine matches in all competitions. In the league, Sporting have only failed to score two or more goals in a match twice in 17 games. Sporting beat this opponent 3-2 in the reverse fixture and are heavily fancied to complete the league double over them in this one.
