The Taca da Liga will get underway this weekend, and in the first round, we will see Vizela take on Maritimo on Saturday. The winner of this match will face either AVS or Chaves in the next round. Vizela finished 11th in the Primeira Liga last season with 40 points, 13 points behind Vitoria SC in sixth. They managed 11 wins, seven draws and 16 losses in the season, though they failed to win any of their last seven matches, losing five and drawing two. Their home record toward the end of the season was also poor, with no wins in their last five games at Estadio Do Vizela. The hosts have played one pre-season match against Caldas, which ended 2-2 last weekend. Meanwhile, Maritimo ended last season in 16th place, meaning they had to compete in the relegation playoffs against Estrela. They lost the first leg 2-1, and despite winning the second match by the same scoreline, they were relegated after a penalty shootout. The visitors only managed seven wins in the season, along with five draws and 22 losses. They won just one of their last five matches in the league; however, that win was over this opponent. In away matches, though, Maritimo are on a 10-match losing streak and winless in their last 14 in all competitions, dating all the way back to October last year. They are likely to find it tough in this one.
