Matchday two in the CAF Champions League will see Nouadhibou taking on Pyramids in Nouakchott on Saturday afternoon. The hosts are at the bottom of Group A after the first round of matches, while the visitors are in second place. After a dominant performance last season, when they won the Super D1 title by 19 points, Nouadhibou have not found top gear as yet this term. They suffered a 3-0 loss to PSL champions Mamelodi Sundowns over the weekend and will need major improvement if they are to challenge for a top-two spot in this competition. Domestically, The Orange Club are in second place with 17 points in seven matches, though they do have a game in hand on leaders Douanes. The hosts faced this opponent in the group stages of the Confederation Cup back in the 2019-20 season. They lost both matches then and conceded seven without response. Nouadhibou are the biggest underdogs in this group, according to the bookmakers. 

Meanwhile, Pyramids are expected to battle for the top spot in this group with Mamelodi Sundown. The visitors got their Champions League campaign started with a solid 1-0 win over TP Mazembe last week. They also followed that up with a 2-1 win over Ismaily in the Egyptian Premier League over the weekend. That result marked their fifth league win in seven games this season and also took them to the top of the league standings with 16 points, two ahead of Al Ahly. This is the first season that The Heirs of the Pharaohs have qualified for this competition, and there is already a lot of expectation on them.
