Gameweek 16 in the Indian Super League will see Goa take on NorthEast United on Wednesday evening. The hosts are currently in third place in the league standings, while the visitors are seventh. Goa have enjoyed an excellent season as we head into the final stretch of the campaign. They come into this match with 28 points after 13 games, just one point behind Mohun Bagan in second and three off league leaders Odisha. Notably, Goa are at an advantage since they have a game in hand on the team in second and have played two games less than the side leading the league standings. However, they did pass up the opportunity to move into second after being beaten by Mohun Bagan 1-0 last week. At home this season, Goa have four wins, one draw, and one loss in six Indian Super League contests. The hosts are unbeaten in their last four matches against this opponent and are the favourites in this one. 

Meanwhile, after finishing bottom of the league last season, NorthEast have also experienced an uptick in performance this term. They are currently on 16 points after 15 matches and one point behind Jamshedpur in sixth place. However, with the bottom half of the table very tightly packed, a loss here could see them drop several places in the standing, potentially all the way to 11th. NorthEast also suffered a defeat to Mohun Bagan in their last outing over the weekend. That result snapped up a four-match unbeaten streak dating back to December last year. On the road, though, the visitors are still in search of their first win of the campaign, currently holding a record of three draws and four losses in seven.
