FC Goa will hope they can start their season on a high when they host the newly-promoted Minerva Punjab side. This Indian Super League match will be played at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Margao on Monday. This will be the first match of the new season for Goa while Minerva Punjab have already played a match and lost. Goa finished fourth last season when they had seven wins, ten draws and three losses. The Gaurs will be looking to get their new season under Manolo Marquez started on a high with a win over the newly-promoted team. Going back to last season, they won six of their last ten league matches but two of those losses have come in a row to end the season.

Punjab started their life in the top-flight with a 3-1 loss to Mohun Bagan. They quickly went down two goals within 35 minutes and never looked in the match. A 53rd minute goal from Luka Majcen gave them hope but Mohun Bagan closed the game with a third strike just beyond the hour mark. This came on the back of their poor performance in the 2023 Indian Super Cup where they came bottom of Group A consisting Bengaluru, Sreenidi Deccan and Kerala Blasters. The Punjab team could win only one, while losing two of their matches in that tournament. Both the losses came by a two-goal margin while their lone win was by a single-goal margin.
