The 2023 Leagues Cup continues with Liga MX side Chivas Guadalajara playing their first Group F match against leaders Cincinnati FC. The MLS club are the current group leaders after their wild 3-3 draw and subsequent penalties victory over Sporting KC on Sunday. The shootout win puts Cincinnati on two points entering their final group stage match and sitting atop the three-team group. With the top two spots advancing, a draw would likely be enough to see the Eastern Conference leaders through to the knockout stage. Cincinnati are not only leading their conference in their domestic campaign, but the entire MLS as well. They’ve been excellent this season and currently sit eight points clear of New England in the race for the Supporters’ Shield. Cincinnati are on a five match unbeaten run following their most recent match, although only two have resulted in victories after the 90 minute regulation time.

Guadalajara have experienced a fine start to their 2023/24 Liga MX Apertura season with a perfect three wins from the first three games. Their most recent outing was a friendly played against Spanish side Athletic Club, which Guadalajara would walk away 2-0 winners. The friendly win means that Chivas have now won their last four in a row, in which time they’ve scored an impressive nine goals and conceded twice. Last season saw Chivas perform as one of the most consistent teams in the Mexican league regardless of venue. They finished fifth in the combined Apertura and Clausura table for the 2022/23 campaign, recording 29 points on home soil and 27 points as the away team. Only 10 times in 41 matches last term did they fail to find the net which also includes scoring in 16 of their 21 away fixtures.
