Fenerbahce haven’t given up on catching Galatasaray at the top of the Turkish Super Lig. They are second in the table and host ninth placed Kragumruk and anything less than a win will be disappointing. Fenerbahce are second on the table and nine points behind Galatasaray but with a game in hand.  Karagumruk have never beaten Fenerbahce in the five matches they have faced off against each other in the league and have only avoided defeat twice in this fixture. The reverse fixture between the two saw nine goals scored with Fener ending up victorious thanks to a stoppage-time winner by Mitchy Batshuayi. With both teams amongst the most potent in the league, Monday’s match could yet be another goal fest. Karagumruk arrive for this match on a seven-match unbeaten run (five on the road)and will hope to keep the momentum going as they aim for a top-half finish. They defeated Istanbulspor 1-0 last time out to get back to winning ways after a couple of two-all draws.

Jorge Jesus’ men have a game in hand on the teams in and around them and will close the gap to six points if they secure a win on Monday. They therefore cannot afford to drop points in this match. Fener advanced to the semifinals of the Turkish Cup in midweek thanks to an emphatic 4-1 win over Kayserispor which was the perfect response to losing 4-2 against Besiktas last weekend in the league. They have won nine home league games this season but lost two of the last four.
