Top-placed Czech Republic will hope to maintain their lead when they travel to the Tórsvøllur stadium to face an improving Faroe Islands. This Group E fixture of the Euro 2024 qualifiers will see the hosts fourth in the table with one point from one game, while the visitors have four points from two. Faroe Islands started their qualification campaign with a 1-1 draw against Moldova and followed it with a 1-0 friendly loss to North Macedonia. Results in these March fixtures kept them winless in four matches, losing and drawing two each. Although they aren’t any more the punching bags for top teams, Faroe Islands will be careful not to lose easily. They have won their last two matches on home soil and another victory here will be historic. They have never won three matches in a row. Yet, that’s easier said than done because Faroe Islands have lost each of their five previous matches to Czech Republic, all without scoring.

The Czechs started their qualification campaign with a 3-1 win over Poland but were held to a goalless draw on matchday two. That made it two wins and a draw from their four matches, giving a bit of momentum. The visitors have a proud record of qualifying for every Euro competition since becoming an independent nation in 1993. The Czechs have won six of their last nine Euro qualifiers, losing only two, so even in the qualification competition they have good pedigree. They could do with some of that form on the road, though. Czech Republic have won just one of their last five away Euro qualifiers, losing three in the process. This sequence has eclipsed their prior run of six wins from seven such matches.
