Barnsley can move to within three points off the League One automatic promotions places if winning at Exeter. The Yorkshire side are fourth in the table with Exeter seven places below them. Barnsley didn't play at the weekend but last time out beat second placed Sheffield Wednesday 4-2 at home. That was their fourth straight league win and in this run they have beaten both of the top two teams in League One. The weekend saw Sheffield Wednesday lose again so another victory here will really boost Barnsley's hopes of automatic promotion. They've scored 11 goals in their last four league games and are unbeaten in their last 12 matches played in League One. A form guide for the last ten league games has them top of the table. Away form has seen them win nine times in League One with six victories in the last ten.
Exeter City don't have a great deal to play for. There are double-figure gaps between them and the play-offs and relegation zone. They are in decent form though and had a 5-0 home win over Accrington Stanley at the weekend. This is a far more difficult test for them. Exeter have only lost one of their last five league fixtures but before that had earned one point from four games. They are bidding to win a fourth straight home league game but all the previous three were achieved against sides in the bottom half of the table, including two in the relegation zone.
