A stuttering Everton side will welcome Tottenham Hotspur to the Goodison Park in a Premier League clash slated for Saturday. At the time of writing, Spurs are placed fourth with 43 points from 22 games while Everton are 18th with as many points. Everton are staring at another season battling relegation late in the campaign as they are currently a point from safety. The fact that they have played a game more than the team above them makes this tougher. Sean Dyche will hope his team can successfully appeal the 10-point deduction to ease their relegation woes. Their poor run of form has contributed to the team dropping back to the relegation zone following five league games without victory. After three successive losses, the Toffees stopped the rot with successive draws. Last time out they settled for a hard-fought point against Fulham away from home in a 0-0 draw. Failure to score in three straight games will be a worry for the Toffees. However, two straight 0-0 draws mark an improvement from conceding two or more in three straight matches earlier. Against Spurs, Everton will need to quieten their former player Richarlison who has scored seven goals in his last seven league games.

In the league, Spurs are currently on a three-game unbeaten run that has enabled them break back into the top four. This was helped a lot by Aston Villa’s home loss against Newcastle United in the last round of matches. Tottenham come into this game having secured victory in a five-goal thriller against Brentford at home. They had to come from behind to win 3-2 after an early Neil Maupay opener for Brentford. A great reaction, and goals from Richarlison, Destiny Udogie, and Brennan Johnson sealed the win. They however waded through a nervy finish when Ivan Toney scored midway through the second half. While Spurs held on, their returns in defence will surely be a concern; they’ve conceded the most in the top six. Also, in the last 13 league matches, Spurs have managed just one clean sheet. They have conceded two or more in eight of their last 12 league games. Spurs however have the better head-to-head record here and will hope to extend the same. Ange Postecoglu’s men have gotten the better of Everton recently, staying unbeaten in their last six Premier League meetings. Half of those six league meetings had over 2.5 goals.
