Everton and Newcastle meet at Goodison Park in this Premiership encounter. The hosts are in 17th position with 22 points while the visitors are in 14th position with 31 points. Everton face the very real possibility of relegation after their most recent 1-0 home loss to Wolves. They have now lost their last four league matches and find themselves equal on points with Watford in the relegation zone. They do however have three games in hand over the team below them. Everton’s biggest problem is their inability to win their home matches and have only one win in their last five matches at Goodison Park. They have not won in their last three home matches against Newcastle and lost 2-0 in this fixture last season. They have not lost consecutive home fixtures to them since 1960. Their current run of four consecutive losses is their worst since 2005 when they lost six in a row.

High flying Newcastle were brought back to earth with a 1-0 loss to Chelsea in their last match. They were unlucky to concede the winner in the 89th minute which snapped their eight game unbeaten run in the league. Once planted at the foot of the table their excellent run of six wins in seven matches has seen them pull nine points clear of the relegation zone. Their defeat to Chelsea is their first in five away matches. Newcastle have won all three of their previous matches against Everton but have not won four in a row since the period between 1989 and 1995.
