Premier League action will take a break as Everton hosts Manchester City in the FA Cup, with the competition going to the quarter finals stage. Everton had an impressive 5-4 win over Tottenham Hotspur in the last round and will be hoping to take it a notch higher against this high profile opponent. However, a concern for manager Carlo Ancelotti will be that his team rarely does well at home. They’ve however played all their three earlier FA Cup matches at home, and won all, though twice they’ve had to do it in extra time. Everton goes to this game on the back of a 2-1 loss to Burnley at home. That was a second straight loss, having earlier fallen 2-0 to Chelsea in London, and having conceded four goals in two matches means the defence needs fixing ahead of this tough encounter. Everton have conceded two goals or more in seven of their last 15 matches and carry to this game four losses in six home games. Their last seven matches at home have produced just one clean sheet for the Toffees and they have six straight losses in meetings with City.

Just over a month ago, City went to Goodison Park and beat Everton 3-1; they’ll be back again as favorites, coming from a 2-0 away win over Borussia Monchengladbach in the Champions League. This will be the first Premier League opponent for City in the FA Cup this season. While it has been all smooth for City, this should be a manageable game for Pep Guardiola’s side that has 24 wins in 25 matches. They are eyeing a quadruple this season and the team is well on course. City have scored two or more goals in 12 of their last 15 matches and their only loss in the last 14 FA Cup matches came against Arsenal in the semis last season. They have scored three goals in each of their three FA Cup matches this season. City have 13 straight away wins across all competitions.
