It's a big weekend for clashes between Everton and Manchester City. Their men's teams meet in the English Premier League on Saturday and the following day, there's this top-of-the-table game in the Women's Super League. It's Everton who are the league leaders after the first two games of the season. They have won both of their matches with wins over Birmingham City and Bristol City. The 1-0 win at Birmingham came via an own goal and the 2-0 home victory over Bristol City through two goals in a minute by Chloe Kelly. Everton had a terrible season last term finishing one from bottom. The six points earned from two games this season is exactly half they totalled in 20 last season when only winning three league games. It took them to February last season to record their first win but a lot of changes have been made since then. This game against City is a lot tougher though and neither of the teams Everton have beaten have won a game yet this season.

Manchester City are second in the table with an exact replica of Everton's record. Two wins out of two, three goals scored and none conceded. They have had some tougher opposition though with a 1-0 win at home to Manchester United and a 2-0 away victory at Reading. City finished second behind Arsenal last season and only lost one game, that being to the league champions. Away from home, City have eight of their last ten league games. Last season they beat Everton 4-0 away and 3-0 at home. Midweek saw them beat Lugano 4-0 in the Women's Champions League to complete an 11-1 aggregate win. Back them to win this match at Everton to go top of the league.
