Everton picked a 2 – 0 win over Sheffield Wednesday away from home to end a run of two straight losses in the Premier League and this will perhaps set them off well ahead of the Manchester City game, with the league champions going to the clash not only on the back of a 3 – 0 win over Preston North End but having won with three straight clean sheets their last three matches. In the previous round of matches, City showed great recovery from their shock 3 – 2 loss to Norwich City by whacking Watford 8 – 0. Manchester City have scored two or more goals in each of their matches across all competitions this season, and they are on four clean sheets in the last five matches. City rested many of their first teamers in the midweek game but still managed to win with ease and being the closest to league leaders Liverpool, they will be looking to close the gap with a win over Liverpool’s crosstown rivals. In this clash, the league’s best scoring team will be facing off with one of the lowest scorers in the season, perhaps it will be a mismatch but Everton are fighters at home, having lost once, drawn once and won six times in the last eight Premier League matches at Goodison Park. They also have six clean sheets in the eight league matches at home.

In the opening six matches, Sergio Aguero has scored eight goals and his partner in crime, Raheem Sterling has five in five, and scored in the League Cup win in midweek as well, in which Aguero was rested, so we expect him to start against Everton. For Everton, their only clean sheet in the last five matches has come against Sheffield Wednesday, a Championship side and before that, they had conceded two or more goals in five straight matches. They carry a very porous defence to a game against City, the best attacking side in the league which doesn’t reflect too well on the hosts. Three losses in the last four matches also leaves Everton as firm underdogs and having Richarlison, their main striker, on two goals from six matches, means they will also be short when facing one of the best defences in the Premier League.
