Everton have done fairly well in the restarted campaign and will look to make it even better when they host Leicester City in their next league match. Ahead of the game, Everton are 12th with 41 points while Leicester have so far managed 55 points in third place. For Everton, a mid-table finish seems achievable but looking at the team’s composition, that would be below their ambitions. They still have 21 points to play for and a place in Europe is not beyond their reach. Having restarted action with a barren draw with Liverpool, they made it better with a win away to Norwich and in both matches they have registered clean sheets. The win over Norwich was however their first in five matches though the earlier four were tough ones, away to Arsenal and Chelsea, and home to Manchester United and champions Liverpool. This is the second time Leicester will visit Goodison Park this season; in the first, a League Cup game, it ended 2-2 with Leicester winning on post match penalties. Everton have had a good run at home in the league; they have lost just three of 15, and won seven. They head to this game unbeaten in eight home matches in the league and have four clean sheets in the last seven home games in the league. Three of their last four league matches at home have however ended in draws.

Leicester, on the other hand, are reeling from their loss to Chelsea in the FA Cup, which leaves them with just a top four finish to play for. Leicester had a great start to the season but somehow slumped and even now, they could drop out of the top four with teams below them on the rise. They have managed just two points since the league resumed but are now only three points ahead of fifth placed Wolves but with a game in hand.. One factor that has worked for Leicester so far is a good defence; they do not concede too many goals. However, they have left more questions in attack. Lead scorer Jamie Vardy has borne the burden of goal scoring, with 19 league goals, but below him, no one has hit eight goals. While Vardy has taken on this responsibility well, the team has somehow suffered from it and they go to this game having failed to score in the last two matches. Vardy has featured for 90 minutes in all the three matches since resumption and has not scored, perhaps a reason for the team’s slow restart. Away from home, Leicester have not won any of their last four matches while they have not scored more than a goal in the last six away matches. They are however in good form against Everton, winning their last three games aganst themunbeaten in three matches against Everton, though one of course was that win on penalties.
