Everton vs Brighton Prediction & Betting Tips - Premier League
by Daniel Ngulu | in Premier League Predictions
After two straight away matches, Everton returned home to continue with their fine start to the season, beating West Ham United 4-1 in the Carabao Cup and they will be looking to extend the same to Brighton when they meet in the league clash on Saturday. Everton are one of the three sides with a perfect record after three matches in the Premier League and sit third on goal difference. Brighton, on the other hand, are 12th with three points, after a win and two losses in their three league matches. One man has been key for Everton at this early stage of the season – Dominic Calvert-Lewin, and he scored his second hat trick of the season already, as Everton whipped West Ham in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday. Richarlison is playing a good supporting act to the Englishman and with four goals in the last three matches, he adds to an already potent forward line going to this game. The team has played six games so far in the season, and scored 20 goals, and the early season form has propelled the team to be rated among top four favorites. One concern though, for manager Carlo Ancelotti, will be the lack of clean sheets in recent matches. The Toffees have conceded in each of their last four matches, and though they have managed to outscore their opponents, letting in six goals remains a big issue. With two straight league matches at home, and one of them being the Merseyside Derby, Ancelotti will definitely want to fix the defence in time. Last season they won eight league matches out of the 19 played at home but with the start they have had, the team will be hoping to dominate opponents more at Goodison Park. In their last five meetings with Brighton, the Toffees have won three and lost two. Notably, the last three home matches against this opponent have yielded wins for Everton and they are unbeaten at home in all of Brighton’s seven visits at Goodison Park.
Brighton, on the other hand, head to this game straight from back to back losses to Manchester United. Their latest defeat, a 3-0 loss, came at home in the Carabao Cup, just days after falling 3-2 at home to the same opponent. Brighton opened their season with a 3-1 loss to Chelsea but afterwards registered good improvement, winning three straight games, including a 3-0 victory at Newcastle United. However, the going has been tough thereafter and after conceding six goals in two matches, they will need a lot of patching up to do ahead of their tour of Liverpool. A number of key players were rested by manager Graham Potter for the Carabao Cup match and in the end it was the first time this season that Brighton failed to score. Key forward Neal Maupay came off the bench in the second half but could not have an impact in the match while the manager will have to do with an injury to Alireza Jahanbakhsh, who limped off. While they head to Goodison Park as underdogs, Brighton will be counting on their away form which has been impressive in recent league matches; they have no loss in their last eight away league matches, though they have won just three in the process.

Our Everton vs Brighton Prediction
The last two matches have really exposed Brighton and though they were unfortunate to lose to Manchester United in their last league game, they can’t hide the fact that they have been poor in defence. The defensive frailty is one factor that could make a huge difference in this game, as they face one of the best attacking sides in the league. The team had changes in personnel for the Carabao Cup game but still had questions about the defending, and it will be very tough against the Everton forward line. Everton have scored 20 times in their six matches this season and playing at home, we expect them to carry that form. However, they have not kept a clean sheet in their last four matches and face a Brighton side that has scored in seven of the last 10 away league matches. A bet on both sides to score looks promising here, and a 3-1 win for the home side will come with good odds.
