Everton haven’t been in action since their draw with Chelsea in mid December and their return to action will see them host Brighton at Goodison Park. The two go into this game five points apart, Everton in 15th place with 19 points and Brighton are 10th with 24 points. Everton impressively forced a 1-1 draw with Chelsea in their last outing and after being out of action for two weeks they’ll hope it counts. They go to this game with one win in their last 11 matches and just a clean sheet in the last 10 but they’ve failed to score in only one of their last five games. They’ve dominated previous meetings with Brighton, going unbeaten in the last four, winning three and they have two clean sheets in the last two meetings.

Brighton have drawn nine matches so far in the league – the highest number of draws by any of the 20 teams taking part. They go to this game having salvaged a point in stoppage time against Chelsea in their last outing. This isn’t a game that has given them much joy in recent times but they can afford to look at Everton’s run with positivity. The last time Brighton beat Everton was in 2019. Their draw with Chelsea, in their last game, was the third in five matches and they have just one win in the last 14 games. Brighton have also managed two clean sheets only in their last 10 matches. Just like Everton, in their last five matches, Brighton have failed to score in one game.
