Everton have emerged as favorites to survive in the relegation fight and they will be looking to move closer to safety when they host Brentford. Seven points separate the two sides; Everton have 36 points, in 16th place while Brentford have managed 43 points, in 13th place. There has been a sense of revival at Everton, and three straight unbeaten outings have definitely boosted their charge. They are coming from a 0-0 draw with Watford, right after wins over Chelsea and Leicester City and the big boost came in Leeds United’s loss to Chelsea on Wednesday. Everton have lost just once in the last six league games, and that was against title chasing Liverpool. They’ve put in a good effort and five points from their remaining three games will be enough to guarantee survival. They have a better goal difference compared to Leeds United and it will also count that they have a game in hand. Leeds United will play two hours earlier than Everton and the Toffees will be crossing fingers for a Brighton win in that game. A win for Leeds, and Burnley, who have a lunch time kickoff at Tottenham, will mean Everton start their game in the relegation zone.

Brentford will be the only team staying up of the three that earned promotion to the league last season. They have done well and the top half is within reach. It however doesn’t seem likely that they will crack their heads trying to finish in the top half. Survival is enough and going into this game they have three wins in the last five matches. Brentford are coming from a 3-0 win over Southampton, this is after failing to score in the earlier two matches – a 3-0 loss to Manchester United and a 0-0 draw with Tottenham Hotspur. They’ve scored two or more in four of their last six matches and go into this game with three clean sheets in five. Away from home, it hasn’t been quite rosy though; they have no clean sheet in the last 10 away games and have suffered seven losses in that run. In seven of 10 away matches, Brentford have conceded two or more goals and this includes a 4-1 loss to Everton in the FA Cup. They did beat Everton in the first league meeting this season, that clash ending 1-0 in Brentford’s favor after Ivan Toney’s penalty goal in the first half.
