Ethiopia have just pride to play for in their remaining two matches in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers. The first of them is a home game against Ghana. They are placed third in Group G with three points while second placed Ghana have nine points. With three losses in their four matches in this group, Ethiopia are officially out of the race for qualification to the third round. They are coming from back to back losses to South Africa and have just one clean sheet in their last five matches. They’ve failed to score in two of their last four matches, including a 1-0 loss in Ghana. In World Cup qualification, Ethiopia have two wins only, and eight losses in their last 212 matches. Their last 15 matches in World Cup qualification have produced just three clean sheets for the Eastern Africa nation.

Ghana, on the other hand, have all the reasons to go for three points here. They will not have some of their star players for this game, including Arsenal’s Thomas Partey, but they must win here. They are a point below South Africa, their opponents for the final match at the group stages and they don’t want that gap bigger ahead of the game. In regard to the weight of the final game, Ghana have a tough balancing act here, to rest key players but ensure they collect three points. They are coming from back to back wins over Zimbabwe and will be looking to add to their three wins in this group. They have a good starting point, with three clean sheets in their last five matches. Ghana have also won each of their earlier four matches against Ethiopia and with clean sheets.
