Portugal Primeira Liga heavyweights Porto will have one eye on the upcoming Champions League engagement as they travel to Estrela Amadora. This matchday five will be played at the Estádio José Gomes on Friday with the hosts 13th on four points and the visitors 3rd on ten points. Amadora started their season with three successive defeats – two in the league and one in the Taca da Liga. Just when it’s looking gloom and doom, they bounced back with a 2-1 win over Estoril and a 1-1 draw at Portimonense. They went into the international break one point above the bottom-three clubs although a win could lift them temporarily into the top-eight spots. The challenge is to replicate the form they showed against Estoril in their last home game, where they needed a late stoppage goal to get full points.

Porto needed a similar late goal to avoid losing to Arouca just before the international break. That strike gave them a 1-1 draw and preserved their unbeaten start to the league season. They won three games in a row before that stalemate and will now look to move up the table. The visitors are tied on points with two other teams but at least momentarily a win will take them to the first spot. Crucially for the visitors, they have won their last two away league games and both by a 2-1 score. A repeat scoreline won’t be considered a miss by the visiting camp, who are likely to celebrate a win of any score.
