Real Madrid will continue with their title quest when they travel to Espanyol in the 32nd round of matches in La Liga this Sunday. Ahead of the game, Espanyol are bottom of the league standings with 24 points while Real Madrid top with 68. Espanyol are stuck in 20th place on the table after registering just one point from their last three matches. They restarted well with a 2-0 win over Deportivo Alaves but it has been downward since. They drew 0-0 with Getafe and lost to Levante and Real Betis in recent matches. this recent run leaves them with just one win in the last six matches. they have not had the best of runs at home this season, with just two wins, and nine losses in 15 La Liga matches at RCDE Stadium. The two wins have come against struggling sides too – Alaves and Mallorca. At five wins in the season, they are one of the two sides with the least victories in La Liga and have the second poorest defence, having let in 50 goals so far. In the last five matches, Espanyol have led once at half time and drawn in four at the break, they have gone on to lose three of these and win only one. In their 15 home league games, they have conceded two or more in nine and have just two clean sheets. They have just one win and one clean sheet against Real Madrid in the last seven matches.

On the other hand, Real Madrid have won each of their four league matches since the league resumed. They top the standings on goal difference and having beaten second placed Barcelona earlier in the season, they can smell the title. Barcelona too have a game against a struggling side (Celta Vigo) so for Real this, like all their coming games, is a must win game. One man who has been key for Real is skipper Sergio Ramos. He has scored in three of the four recent matches, and is the second top scorer in the team after Karim Benzema. We expect defender to be key here again as Real chase for the title. They have scored at least two goals in each of their four matches since resumption and have two clean sheets. With 10 wins in the last 15 La Liga matches, Real have the push and will want to build on the 2-1 win over Sociedad in their last away game. They have no clean sheet in the last four away games, which should be a concern here. But key to their recent run is that they have not trailed at half time in any of their matches since resumption. While they have once been slowed down in the second half, they have sealed most of their wins in the second half.
