A crucial top-half clash in the NPFL is set to take place on Saturday when Enugu Rangers play host to Ikorodu City at Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium. The Flying Antelopes and the Oga Boys are locked level on 31 points apiece, though the latter is ahead in fifth place owing to a better goal difference. 

Enugu Rangers have been finding it tough going in the NPFL lately and suffered their sixth loss of the season last week, beaten 2-1 by El Kanemi Warriors on the road. 

That was the Flying Antelope’s third loss in four games either side of the New Year which is a notable downturn after going unbeaten in their preceding 10 matches since mid-October. 

The hosts have taken 19 points from a possible 30 at home this season, but they have lost their last two, which is the first time that has happened since November 2019. 

Meanwhile, Ikorodu City are having a dream season in their first campaign in the top flight, currently on 31 points after 21 games, trailing the top three by just four points. 

The Oga Boys notched up their ninth win of the season in midweek, beating Kano Pillars 4-1 at home. That was also the third time in the last four games they scored two or more goals. 

However, the visitors have struggled mightily on the road, currently on a three-match losing streak, while they have only won one away game this term (W1 D3 L6).
