Enugu Rangers will kick off their Nigerian Premier League title defence this weekend when they take on El-Kanemi Warriors on Saturday evening. The Flying Antelopes and the Warriors will be facing off in a competitive match for the first time since 2018. Let’s get into the match prediction.

The 2023-24 NPFL season was a memorable one for Enugu Rangers as it saw the club return to prominence and claim to top-flight title for the eighth time but the first since 2016. 

Over the course of the campaign, the Flying Antelopes recorded 21 wins, seven draws and 10 losses, scoring 56 goals, which was the highest tally in the league, and conceding 33 which was the second-fewest in the division. 

At home, Rangers earned an incredible 50 points from their 18 matches and went the entire campaign without defeat, posting 16 wins and just two draws, while they only conceded a mere seven goals in that time. 

Meanwhile, last season was also a good one for El Kanemi Warriors, as they regained promotion to the top flight and went on to win the Federation Cup, beating Abia Warriors 2-0. 

The Warriors ended the term with a record of 10 wins, four draws and two losses, finishing as runners-up to Nasarawa United in the 2023-24 NNL Playoffs. 

The visitors will now face the league champions, who they have not beaten in their last four attempts, losing three and drawing one, which is a record that dates back to June 2016.
