England are ranked eight places above Spain in the world rankings and beat them 2-1 away in their last encounter with the Spaniards. Spain also won their first game in this group with a 2-0 defeat of Portugal, with Scotland still to play they should be able to get through to the knock-out stages even if losing this match. It was two first half goals that saw the Spanish side win over Portugal and only Brazil have beaten them in their last nine outings. Both sides are in decent form but England look a bit better than their opponents who beat a team well below them in their opening game and should have got plenty of confidence from that opening win.
