England vs Hungary Prediction & Betting Tips - World Cup
by Nella Wagah | in World Cup Predictions
England are on the cusp of booking their place at the 2022 World Cup after registering their sixth win in seven Group I matches, in beating Andorra 5-0 on Saturday. On Tuesday they will play host to Hungary looking to add to their 19 points so far and stretch their leadership of the group. A free-scoring side, England have netted 15 goals in their last five matches. Against Andorra, they fielded a second string side but still managed a 5-0 rout, another indicator of not just their depth but also strength. Of the 15 goals scored in the last five matches, 11 have come in the second half. England are unbeaten in 28 World Cup qualification matches, with 21 wins, and at home they have 12 straight wins. The last home defeat in World Cup qualifiers came in 2000, against Germany, and since then England have not tasted defeat in 26 games.
Hungary don’t command the numbers England do; for starters, they are coming here from a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Albania and have no clean sheet in their last seven matches. In the last eight matches, they have one win and have lost four and in their last four, they’ve failed to score in three. In World Cup qualification, they have three losses in four matches. They’ve conceded eight goals in the last five World Cup qualification matches, all goals coming in the second half. In the last five away matches in World Cup qualification, Hungary have one clean sheet and three losses. This is going to be their 13th meeting with England, who have managed 10 wins and Hungary one in the earlier 12. In the first meeting in this group, Hungary suffered a 4-0 defeat.

Our England vs Hungary Prediction
England are clearly set to dominate this game, and are expected to attack from the start. Hungary are underdogs here and they will not go out to play an open game. We expect them to line up defensively to frustrate England. The Three Lions may still manage to open them up, but that could be in the second half when fatigue sets in. Looking at the trend of goals in the two nations’ matches therefore, go for the second half to produce the most goals.
