England - Brazil: Form Analysis
England come into the game against Brazil in good form. They have lost just once in 16 games, a 2-1 defeat to France in the World Cup Quarterfinals back in December 2022. That run of games has included a draw with Germany, a 3-1 away win over Scotland at Hampden Park and beating Italy home and away (2-1 in Rome and 3-1 at Wembley). However, the Three Lions performances in the 2-0 win over Malta, followed by the 1-1 away draw against North Macedonia in their previous two games have left plenty of fans unhappy after what they viewed as severely below par performances. With these two games against Brazil and Belgium offering Gareth Southgate a chance to prepare his squad for the Euro 2024 Finals this summer, there will be plenty on the line for those seeking to gain a place in the squad.
While England's performances have been generally good but for the last two matches, Brazil's performances since the World Cup have been very poor indeed. Pedro Diniz's tenure as manager saw them win just two, draw one and lose three of their World Cup Qualifying games and they were also beaten by Morocco and Senegal in friendly games following their World Cup exit to Croatia. Dorival Junior has been appointed the official manager of the national team in January 2024 and this is his first chance to name a squad and see his team in action since their 1-0 home loss to Argentina back in November. Brazil have beaten only Guinea, Bolivia and Peru in 2023, and their form is going to have to improve markedly both for World Cup qualification and also for the Copa America in the United States this summer.

England & Brazil Squad Analysis
England manager Gareth Southgate has named a 25-man squad for the games with Brazil and Belgium. Absent through injury are Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jack Grealish, Nick Pope, Kieran Trippier and Marc Guehi while Harry Kane has missed training after receiving a kick to the ankle in his last Bayern Munich game, leading to speculation that Kane could be rested for at least one of the two games England have coming up, although I would expect the captain to start against Brazil if he is fit enough. Southgate called up Manchester United youngster Kobbie Mainoo after his excellent performances of late and he is expected to make his England debut at some point along with Anthony Gordon, Jarrad Branthwaite and Ezri Konsa. Phil Foden's form for Manchester City has been excellent and it will be interesting to see if he remains a focal point for Gareth Southgate in this game.
Brazil will field a very young and inexperienced team due to a number of injuries to key players. Alisson Becker, Ederson, Marquinhos, Casemiro and Neymar are all out injured as is Arsenal's in form winger Gabriel Martinelli. Dorival Junior's squad is therefore a very inexperienced one with three keepers all uncapped and eight more uncapped players picked in the squad. Allied to that there are another 7 players that have under 5 caps to their name, while only 3 players have 30 caps or more. Premier League trio Lucas Paqueta, Douglas Luiz and Bruno Guimaraes are expected to start in midfield, with Spurs striker Richarlison likely to lead the line along with Vinicius Jnr. One player to watch could be 17-year-old striker Endrick, who is rated by many as being the next big Superstar from Brazil and who has already been snapped up by Real Madrid, whom he will join in July 2024.
