England vs Austria Prediction & Betting Tips - International Friendlies
by Nella Wagah | in Football Predictions
England’s preparations for the European Championships have kicked off and part of that will see the team play host to Austria, another team also set to grace the finals. The two nations had mixed fortunes in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers with England registering wins in all their three opening games as Austria managed just one win. As England looks to build on, Austria hopes to rectify, with the view of a fine showing at the Euros. England are on four straight wins as they go to this game and will be among the strongest teams at the Euros. In the four matches, they’ve conceded just one goal while they have only two losses in their last 14 matches. The biggest challenge Gareth Southgate will be dealing with going to this game is the concern that key players Harry Maguire and Jordan Henderson may not be fully fit. While the two are under observation, it is unlikely they’ll be unavailable for this match. The manager will also omit Chelsea and Manchester City players who were involved in the Champions League final on May 29th. The match will be played at Riverside Stadium in Middlesbrough and England, with just one home loss in the last 14 matches, will be favorites.
Austria’s only loss in their last nine matches was against Denmark, the only team to have beaten England at home in the last 14 matches. The margin of their loss (4-0) was however bigger than England’s (1-0). Austria’s only win in their last four matches was against lowly ranked Faroe Islands. The 3-1 win, was followed by the defeat to Denmark, which left the visitors without a clean sheet in their last five matches. With obvious defensive issues to deal with, after conceding nine in five matches, Austria will need a very good strategy to counter the threat posed by Harry Kane, if he plays. They’ve however failed to score in just one of their last 11 matches and may want to take advantage of England missing a number of their first-choice defenders. The visitors are unbeaten on their travels in the last five matches, winning four and drawing their most recent, against Scotland. Austria will have a few players well versed with the English game – goalkeeper Daniel Bachmann of Watford and Marco Arnautovic who once played in the Premier League. The team also has experienced players led by David Alaba who has definitely featured at the high level, and a squad dominated by players plying their trade in the German Bundesliga.

Our England vs Austria Prediction
England are on a very strong run and especially when playing at home. Gareth Southgate will hope their preparations start on a high and they’ll be boosted by a good run at home. However, England, without a number of key players in defence, should be alert against Austria, who have impressed in their recent away matches. Austria have also proven to be good in attack and this too should worry England. Despite Austria’s threat, England are still expected to win this game.
