The final of the 2023 UEFA U21 Euro Championship will be contested by England and Spain on Saturday. Spain will be seeking their sixth continental title while England will be gunning for a third crown. England have been excellent in the tournament breezing past their opponents easily. Lee Carsely’s charges have won all five of their matches without conceding a goal. They have scored 10 goals and only once were they held to win by a solitary strike. To  reach the final, the Young Lions thumped Israel 3-0. It was the second time that the two nations were locking horns in the competition after their group-stage showdown which England won 2-0. The last triumph however was 39 years ago and since then they had made the final only once, in 2009. This is also the last time that the two nations last met with England running out 2-0 winners.

No team has won this tournament more times than Spain. La Rojita have won five Euro titles in their history, the joint most. They are also unbeaten in the competition but do not have their 100% record intact like England. Santi Denia’s charges lost that when they drew 2-2 with Ukraine in their final group match. To advance to their ninth Euro final, which is a record, Spain thumped Ukraine 5-1 in the semifinals. This is the tournament’s biggest win and came at the right time to give them that extra boost for the final. The competition’s top scorers, Sergio Gomez and Abel Ruiz, both scored in the match and are now on three goals each. Spain last won the tournament in 2019, dethroning Germany who later won in 2021. The Little Red Ones are currently on a 19-match unbeaten run with 16 of those matches ending in victory.
