Empoli and Lazio will be looking to bounce back to winning ways when they face off in Serie A on Wednesday evening. The hosts are currently in 18th place in the league standings, while the visitors are 11th. Empoli have struggled to find the same type of form that saw them manage a solid mid-table finish last season. They have taken just 12 points from 16 games this season and are the first side below the dotted line. The hosts were handed their tenth loss of the season last weekend when they were beaten 1-0 by Torino. That was also their fourth consecutive league game without a win following a loss to Sassuolo and back-to-back draws to Genoa and Lecce. Empoli have won just one of their eight home games this season, which was against bottom club Salernitana back in September.  The hosts are clear outsiders in this one. 

Meanwhile, after finishing second in the top flight last season, Lazio have failed to find the same type of form this term. They have taken just 21 points from their first 16 games, which leaves them seven points behind the Champions League qualification places. The Eagles were beaten 2-0 by Inter Milan over the weekend and have won only one of their last six league matches, which was against Cagliari at the start of the month. However, the one major positive for Lazio this season has been their performance in Europe, where they secured qualification to the last 16 in the Champions League by finishing second in their group. The visitors won the last match between these sides 2-0 and are unbeaten against this opponent in their last nine meetings.
