Empoli moved in to the Serie A top half with a 4-2 win over Salernitana and they will be hoping to move further up when they host champions Inter Milan. They go to this game placed 10th with 12 points while Inter are third on 18 points. Newly promoted to the league, Empoli have already claimed a win over Juventus but have lost to other bigwigs, including Lazio, Roma and Atalanta. They have four wins in their nine league games and notably, have been good in attack, scoring 14 goals in the nine games. They have however conceded 18 goals in the process. Going to this game, they have just two clean sheets in the nine league matches played and they’ve conceded two or more in seven of the nine. At home, they have played five matches in the league this season, and won just one, the rest have ended in defeat. Empoli have conceded at least two goals in all their five home matches but failed to score in just one. In four of the five league games at home, both teams have scored in four.

Inter are coming from a 1-1 draw with Juventus, a second straight winless outing for them in the league, while leaves them seven points behind league leaders Napoli. They are the top scoring side in the league with 24 goals but in the top six they’ve conceded the most (12). Clearly, they aren’t the best to bank on when it comes to defending. Both sides have scored in their last four matches, and they will rue their complacency against Juventus, who won a last minute penalty to deny them two points. They suffered their first loss in Serie A in their last away match, falling 3-1 to Lazio but they have three wins in five away league games.
