Genoa will look to continue their good form in the Serie A when they travel to face Empoli on Saturday afternoon. The hosts are currently in 19th place in the league standings, while the visitors are now up to 11th. It has been quite a drop-off this season for Empoli after finishing last term in 14th place. They have managed just 17 points in 22 league matches and are five points above bottom club Salernitana and two points from safety. However, there have been signs of improvement over the last few weeks. In their last outing, Empoli managed to take a point off league title contenders Juventus. That followed an impressive 3-0 win over Monza a week earlier when Szymon Zurkowski scored a superb hat-trick. Notably, that was just the third time this season that Gli Azzurri managed to avoid defeat in consecutive matches, though they have not managed to go three games without losing as yet. Still, the hosts have not beaten this opponent in their last eight attempts and are the marginal underdogs in this one.

Genoa have a record of three wins, two draws and six losses in away league matches this season but are unbeaten in their last three with two wins and a draw. The one area that the visitors will look to improve in the second half of the season will be in defence, as they have failed to keep a single clean sheet in their last ten matches on the road.
