A mad dash in the final minutes enabled Atletico Mineiro to beat Fortaleza in their last outing and they will be looking to build on it when they travel to Ecuador to face Emelec in the Copa Libertadores. Emelec aren’t really having a great time, though in their last Copa Libertadores game they did thrash Independiente 7-0. They are coming from a 1-1 draw with Tecnico Universitario, which leaves the big win over Independiente as their only victory in the last five matches. Atletico Mineiro brought out their fighting spirit in the last game, coming from 2-0 down with 14 minutes to go, to beat Fortaleza 3-2. That was their third straight win and fifth straight game unbeaten, which will give them confidence going into this game. They face the Ecuadorian side on the back of a good scoring run too; Atletico Mineiro have scored in four of their last five matches and have scored two or more in each of the last three. They have two clean sheets in the five matches and have only lost once in 19 Copa Libertadores matches. This loss was in their last outing, at home to Deportes Tolima. They haven’t lost any of their last 10 away matches in this competition though. In the 10 away games in Copa Libertadores, they have six wins and in their last seven they have five clean sheets.
