Eintracht Frankfurt are 12th in the German Bundesliga and a very good cup side. They host Werder Bremen in the quarter finals of the German Cup and their opponents are in the relegation zone. Frankfurt qualified for the last sixteen of the Europa League (where they meet Basel) on Friday. They drew 2-2 away at Red Bull Salzburg (trailing twice) to win the tie 6-3 on aggregate. The fact the game was played on Friday caused the postponement of their scheduled Sunday Bundesliga game against Werder Bremen. Now the two teams meet in the German Cup. Frankfurt caused an upset in the last round when beating RB Leipzig 3-1, making it ten goals in three German Cup ties this season. They struggled away at St Pauli two rounds ago though, going 2-0 down before winning 5-3. Frankfurt had won four successive home games before losing to Union Berlin last week.

Werder Bremen are in danger of being relegated this season and are currently one from bottom in the Bundesliga. They are four points away from the 16th place that would take them into the relegation play-off match, but do hae a game in hand. Bremen have only had four league wins this season and have the worst defensive record. Five of their last six games have been lost. The other was a 3-2 home win over Borussia Dortmund in the German Cup. Four of their last five away games have ended in defeat, the other being a win at 16th placed Fortuna Dusseldorf. Frankfurt should be able to put their home advantage to good use and can win this tie.
