Eintracht Frankfurt have missed out on a Champions League slot, despite their earlier promise and will hope for a strong finish when they host Freiburg in the final week of Bundsliga action. Frankfurt go to this game on 57 points, in fifth place, four points behind fourth placed Wolfsburg while Freiburg are 10th on 45 points and target a win to push their Conference League agenda. Frankfurt have mismanaged their recent matches, the key reason they miss out on a top four finish. They are coming from a 4-3 defeat away to Schalke, which left them winless in the last three league matches. It was the third time in four matches that they’ve conceded three or more goals and they have just one win in their last five matches. Eintracht Frankfurt have done fairly well at home, winning nine of the 16 league matches played and will hope to end it unbeaten, having drawn seven. Andre Silva has been the standout player for Frankfurt, and in the loss to Schalke, his scored twice, his third and fourth goals in four matches, taking his tally to 27 in Bundesliga this season.

Freiburg have something to play for in their final match of the season; they are eyeing European football and that’s well within reach, though it is a congested race with four teams eyeing seventh spot. Freiburg are the lowest placed of them all so only a win can keep their hopes alive, even though it is all not in their control. They’ve avoided defeat in their last two matches and coming back twice to draw with champions Bayern Munich must have left them full of belief. Freiburg will however be without midfielder Roland Sallai, who is suspended. They have three wins in the last 10 matches and failed to score in one of their last five league games. In three of the five matches, they have scored two or more and in their last five away league games, they have four losses, while four of their six away matches have produced over 2.5 goals.
