Eintracht Frankfurt might be struggling to secure European football for the next season but they have an opportunity to make club history in Europe as they welcome Barcelona in the first leg of the quarter-final game in the Europa League at the Deutsche Bank Park. Eintracht Frankfurt have previously played in the semi-final of any European competition only once in the last 42 years. The hosts come into the after edging out Real Betis in the Round of 16 after finishing top of their group in the cup competition. Barcelona beat Galatasaray in the Round of 16 clash after their Napoli win in the knockout round play-offs post their Champions League campaign. Eintracht Frankfurt drew goalless at home with Greuther Furth in their previous fixture in the Bundesliga. They have played low scoring games off-late with under 2.5 goals in each of their last four matches. They also have had under 2.5 goals in each of their last three fixtures as well.

Barcelona secured an important 1-0 win at home over Sevilla in the La Liga before their trip to Frankfurt. They have scored quite a few goals under the tutelage of Xavi but the key aspect of their improvement in performance has been defence. They have conceded just two goals in their last three away matches and are unlikely to concede many against a much less attacking Eintracht Frankfurt side. This also will be the first meeting between the two sides.
