The Pharoahs of Egypt take on Uganda in their second group match at the Stade de Port-Gentil, in Port-Gentil, Gabon. Egypt, regarded one of the football powerhouses in Africa, started their 2017 campaign on shaky grounds, settling for a barren draw with Mali in their first match. Uganda, the only East African side in the tournament, gave a decent account in their match against Ghana, although they finally lost to a 32nd minute penalty delivered by Andre Ayew after Asamoah Gyan had been hard-tackled in the box. Going into the second match, the bookmakers are siding with Egypt and for good reason. Egypt have played at the AFCON 22 times before and won it seven times. In comparison, Uganda have played in the African Championship six times before, with their best performance being a semifinal berth in 1978. The Cranes too struggled in the qualification round and only advanced as the best group runners up. However, the Milutin Sredojevic side played incredibly well against Ghana and should they give a similar show against Egypt, they might end the day with a point or three.
