Egypt - Morocco: Form Analysis
Egypt topped Group C in the preliminary stages with two wins and a draw, finishing ahead of Spain. The quarter-finals saw the Pharaohs edge out Paraguay via penalties after drawing 1-1 during regular time. The roles were reversed in the semi-finals, as France won 3-1 in additional extra time.
Morocco won 2-1 in extra time when these two sides last met.
That was in the U23 Africa Cup of Nations final, where Morocco came back from a goal down. They would love to repeat the feat here, having failed to hold on to their lead in a 2-1 loss to Spain in the semis.
That result erased the happy memories of their 4-0 win over the United States in the last eight, after topping Group B with six points, ahead of Argentina, whom they defeated 2-1 in controversial circumstances.
